March Madness: If You’re At Work Right Now, Congratulations

The second set of Thursday games is in the books, and boy were they uneventful.

Once again, there was one somewhat competitive game — Marquette eventually pulled away from Kentucky to advance — and several blowouts: Pittsburgh, Purdue and UNLV all cruised to victories.

Oral Roberts Back In The Dance


For the third year in a row, the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles are in the Big Dance. The regular-season Summit League champs clinched their conference’s automatic berth tonight with a 71-64 win over second-seeded IUPUI.

March Madness: Summit League Tournament Projection


In part 15 of the 30-part series, we here at Merrill Park Superstar get to revisit our old friend the Summit League. Longtime readers of the blog (ha!) might remember our first experience with the Summit League, this post, in which we previewed some of the “lesser” games sharing the slate with that night’s big Memphis-Tennessee #1 vs. #2 showdown. One of the games we mentioned was a clash between the UMKC Kangaroos (awesome name) and the Centenary Gentlemen (awesomer) that was believed to be the Gentlemen’s last stand with regard to a post-season appearance. Little did I know that due to the NCAA’s reclassification policy, both North Dakota State and South Dakota State were barred from participating in the Summit League’s conference tournament. So, in fact, the game — and the entire Summit League schedule, for that matter — was meaningless.
