March Madness: Patriot League Tournament Projection

Next we’ll look at the Patriot League. The Patriot League tournament takes place entirely on the campus sites of its eight teams, and is a standard eight-team, single-elimination field without re-seeding. All games are hosted by the school with the higher seed.

I’ll preface this by saying that this tournament has the greatest potential to produce a Cinderella team of the brackets I’ve evaluated thus far. I’ll note it in the summary afterward, but the formula actually seems to think that Holy Cross has a heck of a shot of winning this tournament despite being the lowest-seeded team in the playoff. Unfortunately, their poor conference record means they must immediately slay the giant that emerged from the Patriot League regular season schedule if they want a chance at an improbable tournament win.

West Regional to be played in Phoenix, Arizona. Winner of West Regional to meet winner of East Regional in Final Four in San Antonio, Texas.
