Coaching Carousel: Nick Saban Is Still Not Going To Be The West Virginia Coach

Following up on a story originally broken on Merrill Park Superstar by means of a misleading headline that proved unrelated to the content of its corresponding text, Nick Saban is not going to be the West Virginia coach. Following the Mountaineers’ 48-28 Fiesta Bowl win against Oklahoma, then-interim head coach Bill Stewart had the interim tag dropped and was officially named the team’s head football coach.

The other big coaching news in college football is the believed departure of June Jones from the Hawai’i program. Jones is reportedly being pursued by Southern Methodist University, which is also rumored to have expressed interest in fired Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz.

Martz is believed to be a candidate for the San Francisco 49ers’ offensive coordinator position. He’s not the only one, however, as former Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron and ex-Ravens coach Brian Billick are also among those under consideration for the job.

Meanwhile, Dallas Cowboys assistant Tony Sparano is believed to be the favorite to replace Cameron in Miami.
